Terminal Information: Served by more than two dozen airlines, the Chennai International Airport consists of three terminals:

  • Anna [International passenger operations]
  • Kamaraj [Domestic passenger operations]
  • Meenambakkam [Cargo Operations]

Immigration Counters: Spread over an area of 140,000 square meters, the sprawling new airport terminal boasts of nearly 140 check-in counters along with 60 immigration counters and the two runways are connected by a network of taxiways.

Airport Connectivity
Bus:  Bus services at the Chennai airport are robust as buses depart frequently for the city centre and one can reach the centre of the city in around 45 minutes.

Taxi: Pre-paid taxis can be booked from a counter in the arrivals area of the terminal buildings and are a comfortable mode of transport in Chennai City.

Rail: Tirusulam, a suburban railway station is located just outside the airport. Trains to Fort George Station and Egmore Station run every 20-40 minutes from early morning until late in the evening.

Car Hire: Car hire counters are located in the arrivals area for the convenience of passengers.

Car Parking: Ample parking space is provided at the airport and as per current capacity nearly five hundred cars can be accommodated simultaneously.

Lounges: The international terminal has a Maharaja lounge that provides facilities like a bar, snack counter, business centre, music, television, newspapers and magazines for the convenience of passengers. Offered exclusively for business travellers the Le Imperial Meridien lounge provides all the luxury and exclusivity which discerning business class travellers desire. There is well equipped Indian Airlines’ lounge at the domestic terminal with internet access apart from other facilities. The airport also offers dormitories, retiring rooms for transient passengers who want to stay for long periods of time at the airport.

Food & Beverage: Numerous snack bars, vending  machines  and restaurants  offer a  smorgasbord of options  for those looking  either for a  hearty meal or  just a  quick bite.

Shopping: Duty free shops, gift shops, book stores are also available at the airport for the convenience of passengers who don’t have the time to venture into the city and shop in the city’s bustling markets.

Business Facilities: Access to executive lounge is provided to those desirous of using it for conferencing purposes. In addition to this, video phones are also provided to facilitate conference calls. High speed internet connectivity is available free of cost at the airport as it is now completely wi-fi enabled. Passengers can experience a whole new web surfing experience while waiting for flights as the airport is now a HOTSPOT.

Medical care: Emergency medical care facilities are available at the airport for providing immediate relief and care to passengers. One can even find a pharmacy store at the domestic terminal.

Money & Banking: Foreign Exchange Counters are available at both departure and arrival areas at the Airport while ATM Counters of Indian banks can be found at the domestic terminal.

Airport Hotels: A newly constructed Le Imperial Meridien Hotel is now operational for passengers desirous of long or short stays at the airport. Other hotels located close by include the Radisson and the Mars Hotel.

Luggage: Luggage trolleys are provided free of charge to assist passengers in embarking and disembarking flights. Queries regarding lost and found baggage can be directed to the airport information desk or to the airlines.

Facilities for Physically Challenged Travellers: Chennai International Airport being a disabled-friendly area offers special assistance, reserved parking spaces, specially adjusted rest spaces and toilets for physically disabled passengers. The airport provides a special ambulift facility to aid with boarding and disembarkation of convalescent passengers.

Smoking: The Airport being a "No Smoking Zone”, smoking is prohibited in all public areas and there is a dedicated smoking room provided for smokers.
