Changi Airport was established in 1981 and was corporatised on 1st July, 2009. The airport is under the management of Changi Airport Group. The sixth busiest international airport in the world handles some forty two million passengers every year, besides 5,400 arrivals and departures on a weekly basis. The Singapore Airport is spread out over an area of some 1,300 hectares and serves over 40 airlines across the domains of regional, international and cargo services, including the five star Singapore Airlines. The airport also serves as a hub for different airlines such as Qantas, Tiger Airways, SilkAir, Jetstar Asia, and Singapore Airlines.

Terminal Information: The airport has a total of four terminals handling different Singapore flights. These are Terminals 1, 2, 3, and the Budget Terminal. Every terminal is equipped with almost every conceivable facility. However, the Budget Terminal has no aerobridges, escalators, and travellators and its annual passenger handling capacity is seven million.

Airport Connectivity: The Changi Airport is well connected with the main business districts and is easily accessible.

Cab: Every terminal’s Arrival level has taxi stands and more taxis can be flagged down outside as well.

Bus: While the Airport Shuttle service is available for most hotels, the Public Bus Service 36 is available for the city and buses from the city stop at Terminals 1, 2, and 3. A Transtar Cross-Border Service also connects the airport to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, while there are free shuttle bus services from the Ang Mo Kio and Sengkang MRT stations.

Car Hire: For a swift Singapore Tour, travellers can hire cars from Avis and Hertz car hire counters at the Arrivals Halls of Terminals 1, 2, and 3.

Car Parking: Electronic parking system manages the six public car parks at the Changi Airport. Car Park 1, at terminal 1 is open air and can accommodate over 850 cars and some 100 motorcycles. Car Parks 2A and 2B at terminal 2 are multi storey parking areas and provide sheltered access and spaces for 2600 cars and 600 motorcycles. Car Parks 3A and 3B at terminal 3 are located in the basement of the terminal with a capacity of 1700 cars and 130 motorcycles. The Budget Terminal has the smallest car park that allows 270 cars and 130 motorcycles to be parked.

Lounges: A number of airlines operate their lounges at the airport. Some of the lounges are SIA SilverKris Lounge, KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, SATS Premier Lounge, SATS Special Service Lounge. Food and Beverages: All the terminals have ample food and beverage facilities. There is no dearth of fast food joints, bars, coffee houses, and restaurants. Some of the popular names are Starbuck Coffee, Ananda Bhavan Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Ah Wang Desserts, The Food Gallery, Mc Donald’s, Harry’s Bar, and Flavours of Asia.

Medical Care: Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are also well equipped with clinics and pharmacies to take care of medical exigencies. The clinics are operated by Raffles Medical Group and are located in the Departure Transit Lounge West, North, and North of Terminals 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

Shopping: Shopping is a main part of Singapore tourism and there are plenty of opportunities for indulging in this pastime at the airport. From Convenience Stores, Fine Jewellery, Luxury Boutiques, Mid-Price Fashion, cosmetics, wellness and beauty product shops, travel and fashion accessories, electronic items, Liquor, tobacco and a range of options for great souvenir shopping are available at the airport.
