Singapore Airlines cuts fuel levies

Singapore Airlines has become the first carrier in the Asia-Pacific region to cut fuel surcharges on some of its flights.

Singapore Airlines has become the first carrier in the Asia-Pacific region to cut fuel surcharges on some of its flights.

Officials said the price dips were in response to a reduction in the cost of jet kerosene and that the airline wanted to pass on this benefit to its customers.

Passengers on flights to Australia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Dubai from Singapore will all see the cost of their tickets come down as a result.

Singapore Airlines announced last month that the number of passengers it carried in July increased.

The numbers travelling on its flights rose by 3.6 per cent in July to 1.68 million when compared with the same period last year, the company said, according to Market Watch.

Singapore Airlines is the national airline of the country and operates a hub at Singapore Changi airport.

It has a strong presence in south-east Asia, east Asia, south Asia and the so-called Kangaroo Route markets.Meet the editors...
