A poll carried out by a financial services provider has found that travel is the most popular activity that people aspire to do when they retire.

A poll carried out by a financial services provider has found that travel is the most popular activity that people aspire to do when they retire.

Research carried out by Scottish Widows found that 45 per cent of those above retirement age will pack a bag and head off on their travels when they no longer have to work.

However, the poll also found that many more people would opt to go abroad if they had a little more cash.

Ian Naismith, head of pensions market development at Scottish Widows, said: "It is encouraging to see that so many people are enjoying themselves after they retire. Retirement should be about enjoying life."

He added that such people hoping for the trip of a lifetime could save a little money each year in order to ensure money is not an object to seeing the world upon retirement.

A recent poll by Warner Home Video found that many retirees would love to go on holidays to Australia in order to see the Great Barrier Reef.Meet the editors...
