Crocodiles encourage holidays to AustraliaPeople going on holidays to Australia are not likely to be put off by the prospect of bumping into a crocodile, it has been claimed.

Instead, Cairns state tourism manager Desley Boyle commented, the reptiles are more likely to be seen as an attraction by tourists, especially those from countries who may never have been lucky enough to see one.

She pointed out that the last time one was spotted near to Cairns Esplanade, visitors flocked there to take photos.

"The fascination with our wildlife, including our dangerous wildlife, is a drawcard to tourists in the tropics," Ms Boyle said.

According to FindSeeDo.com, the best time to see crocodiles in the wild in Australia is in the winter or dry season when the water is cold and they lie on the river banks to sun themselves.

There are two kinds of crocodile in Australia - the Estuarine, a saltwater crocodile and Johnsons, a freshwater crocodile. Both are found in the hot, tropical northern part of the continent.
