People on holidays to Melbourne will soon be able to enjoy a celebrity dining experience, it has been reported.

According to the Herald News, Gordon Ramsay is to open a new branch of his restaurant, Maze, within the city's Crown Casino when it is completed in 2010.

The chef and television personality said he is excited about the prospect.

"This is our first step in bringing the Gordon Ramsay brand to Australia and after having seen the way Crown operates we feel that this is an exciting and challenging opportunity," he commented.

The new casino will be Crown's third and will be able to accommodate 340,000 guests a year.

Maze offers diners a French eating experience with Asian infusions and serves food on small tasting plates so that people can enjoy lots of different dishes.

Melbourne continues to be popular with travellers and holidaymakers - over 20 million passengers passed through Melbourne Airport last year, according to its website.
