Ski holidays surge among BritonsMore people than ever are booking ski holidays, if the information from one hire company is anything to go by.

Ski Republic announced that it has seen record numbers of rentals, with bookings up by 500 per cent on the same period 12 months ago.

This could be because people are rushing to take advantage of the current weather conditions - it was reported earlier this week that unseasonably thick snow is creating great conditions for skiing all over the world.

Many resorts have opened early so that winter sports fans can get the best out of the season.

According to the Independent, some 1.35 million people went on ski holidays last winter as it becomes a more common pastime and loses its upper class only image.

People thinking of going on ski holidays to Australia may wish to consider booking flights to Melbourne, from which they can reach resorts around the Alpine and Mt Buffalo national parks.
