Try a tuna-fest on Australia holidaysAnyone keen on participating in unusual activities on their travels may wish to book holidays to Australia in time for next month.

Port Lincoln in South Australia is to play host to the annual Tunamara Festival on January 24th, 25th and 26th, which focuses on seafood and tuna in particular.

Visitors will be able to sample a variety of seafoods, as well as wine, art and music, from stalls around the town in what the festival's website bills as its biggest and best annual event.

However, the highlight may well be the World Champion John West Tuna Toss, which will see participants compete to find out who can throw a 10kg fish the farthest.

The world record is 37.23m, which was achieved by former Olympic hammer champion Sean Carlin in 1998.

"We would like to extend a warm welcome to all visitors planning on travelling to Port Lincoln," said a spokesperson for the event.

Port Lincoln has a population of around 14,000 and is situated some 280km from Adelaide.
