People going on ski trips, for example, those on holidays to Australia, have been urged not to forget to protect their skin.

Sun lotion manufacturer Green People said that many people forget that getting sunburnt on a winter sports holiday is a distinct possibility, even though it may feel so cold that there is no chance of it happening.

"With many people unaware of the dangers of the sun when on the snow, sunburn can be a painful way to end a wonderful holiday," a spokesperson for the company said.

To avoid this happening, it recommended that skiers use sun lotion on their face to avoid being caught by the reflection off the snow, as well as wearing lip balm with a sun protection factor in order to prevent the delicate skin on the lips from burning.
