Anyone going on holidays to Australia and the Queensland region in particular soon may wish to visit Lake Eyre in order to see it spring to life again.

This is the suggestion of the South Australia Tourism Commission, which states that the lake is now benefitting from floodwaters that are flowing downwards to fill the empty bed.

It last saw water in 2000 and the return of the precious liquid is attracting pelicans, camels, fish and luscious plants, which are moving to Lake Eyre in order to avoid the parched land elsewhere.

"Nature loving travellers have the rare and unexpected opportunity of seeing a lake reborn," the organisation comments.

Lake Eyre is situated approximately 700 kilometres from Adelaide, the fifth largest city in Australia and also the most populous in the south.

Adelaide has a Mediterranean climate, where most of the rain falls in the winter months. Of the Australian capital cities, Adelaide is the driest, Lonely Planet attests.
