Enjoy Julia Creek festivities on holidays to AustraliaThose who like to be energetic on their travels - or those who like to watch other people being energetic - could consider holidays to Australia in early April to check out the Julia Creek Dirt and Dust Festival.

The three-day event from April 3rd onwards culminates in a triathlon which sees participants swim 800 metres, cycle five kilometres and then run another five through the streets.

With a suggested time limit of an hour and the temperatures reaching into the thirties, this is no mean feat.

However, for people who simply want to enjoy more sedate activities, the festival also features bog snorkelling, agricultural demonstrations and a best bottom contest.

The Julia Creek Dirt and Dust Festival will celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2009, having begun after the locals decided to come up with a way of putting the town on the map.

It was a finalist in the 2008 Tourism Queensland Awards.Meet the editors...
