2009 a particularly good time to visit Lake EyreAnyone going to the Queensland region on their holidays to Australia this year should take the opportunity to visit the Eyre Peninsula in order to see some exciting wildlife.

This is the suggestion of the South Australia Tourism Commission, which states that the floodwaters are making now a particularly exciting time to visit the Outback area.

"It is transformed into a blanket of wild flowers in the spring and boasts over 100 species of birds, plus an abundance of kangaroo, emu and wombat populations," the organisation states.

In addition, visitors will have the chance to see picturesque and diverse landscapes, as well as the endangered right whales which swim along the coast of the Great Australian Bight.

Any time between now and May is an ideal time to head to the Eyre Peninsula, the tourism commission said.

Earlier this month, the same organisation reported that floodwaters are flowing into Lake Eyre, which last saw water in 2000.Meet the editors...
