Holidays to Australia are great, whatever their lengthAlthough many people going on holidays to Australia attempt to spend short periods of time in different parts of the vast country, this is not the best way of approaching such breaks.

This is according to an article in the Times, which instead suggested concentrating on one region at a time in order to get the best out of a break.

For relatively short trips of 11 days, the newspaper recommends Cairns, where holidaymakers can check out Bondi beach, the Harbour Bridge and Queensland for the reefs and rainforests.

Meanwhile, for those who have a month to spare, "Oz is your oyster", the article states.

Such a break could incorporate the east coast from Sydney to Cairns, taking in Brisbane, the vineyards and the Sunshine Coast in a leisurely 1,634-mile drive by camper van.

And, for those who dream of staying longer, the Times refers travellers to the Australian High Commission website to discuss emigration.
