A road trip could be a great way to experience holidays in Australia, travellers have been advised.

Tourism Australia has produced a new 64-page guidebook to show off some of the best driving routes Down Under - called Great Australian Road Trips - in response to growing demand from holidaymakers looking for something a little different.

It also aims to dispel myths that encourage travellers to believe that driving trips are expensive or difficult to organise.

Maggie White, spokesperson for Tourism Australia, said: "We would like to encourage visitors, especially repeat visitors, to venture beyond our capital cities and explore the lovely surrounding regions."

She added that the country has excellent roads and beautiful scenery that would be great to experience from a car.

Leaonne Hall, writing for the Embrace Australia blog, recently recommended holidays to Australia to keen foodies thanks to its excellent freshly-caught fish and fine locally-produced wines.Meet the editors...
