Get a taste of the black diamond on holiday in PerthThe black diamond of the culinary world will be celebrated in a festival in Western Australia this summer.

More French black truffle grows in western Australia than the whole rest of the country put together and the region will host the Mundaring Truffle Festival between August 8th and 9th.

Some of Australia's top chefs and food producers will be attending the event to help educate people who may be taking a holiday to Australia about the rare fungi.

Visitors will be able to taste the black truffle and two Truffle Master Classes will be held by top chefs and "truffle aficionado" Alain Fabregues who owns the Loose Box restaurant in the town and Peter Gilmour, chef at Quay restaurant in Sydney.

Travellers flying to Perth will be pleased to know Mundaring is located a 45-minute drive away and according to the event's official website, the festival is a must-do for the gourmand.

According to the Independent, the French black truffle is one of the most expensive and important products in the country's cuisine and the rare Pèrigord can sell for more than €1,000 per kilo. Meet the editors...
