Three new luxury hotels opened to holidaymakers in AustraliaTravellers may wish to head to one of three new luxury hotels that have opened in the Australian city of Melbourne when considering holiday plans this summer.

Holidaymakers flying to Australia can choose from the "stunning luxury properties" in the city that has been "leading Australia's hotel building" over recent years, Tourism Victoria has said.

The newest of the venues is located in the waterfront area, offering "breathtaking views" of the Yarra River from its 20-storey height.

Hilton South Wharf boasts a Michelin-starred Catalan chef who will serve guests a Spanish influenced menu and the hotel also offers a 5,000-strong wine list.

Intercontinental has also opened its doors to the city of Melbourne and is the only luxury hotel in the financial district.

Housed in the 19th century Rialto building and having undergone a £30 million refurbishment, the hotel is now "Melbourne's grandest heritage hotel", Tourism Victoria claims.

The Grand Hyatt in the city has also had a facelift and is the largest five-star hotel in the area.

Melbourne is located on the northern banks of the Yarra River close to the shores of Port Philip Bay.Meet the editors...
