Thai capital is "worlds most intoxicating city"Bangkok has been described as "the world's most intoxicating city" by an author and travel writer.

Malcom Pryce, writing for the Telegraph, described the Thai capital as "my kind of town" and "part opium den, part Venus flytrap for the soul".

Mr Pryce said his favourite things about the city were the scents of lemon-grass and jasmine, the light of the afternoon and the "sense of promise in every moment."

He recommended staying in a serviced apartment as they can rival many of the city's luxury hotels and suggested heading to the open-air, panoramic Moon Bar, located above the Banyan Tree Hotel, for a drink and the "sublime" view of the city lights.

Mr Pryce said he would tell a first-time traveller to the city to head out on a boat around the canals on the Thonburi side of the river in the Old Bangkok quarter.

Bangkok is one of the top ten places to visit when on a holiday in Thailand, according to Lonely Planet.Meet the editors...
