Head on holiday to Australia for the International Indigenous Festival Travellers flying to Australia in June may wish to learn about the indigenous culture of the country in a three-day and four-night festival.

Australia's International Indigenous Festival - The Dreaming - will run from June 5th to 8th and "is a vibrant, exciting and unique cultural experience, where local, national and international audiences can look forward to their annual ceremony time along with the most comprehensive showcase of Indigenous art," the event's official website has said.

Celebrations will take place across diverse venues such as ceremony grounds, arts venues and bars, and will see events such as traditional healing, rituals, workshops and stalls, campfire story circles, street performances, music and food stands.

The festival also incorporates events around other indigenous cultures from around the world including Maori, Dutch, Italian and Greek, the Courier Mail reported.

Last year, some 16,000 visitors attended the event, with the 18-29 year old age group the most widely represented. Meet the editors...
