Australia and Gordon Ramsay getting set for opening of largest hotelHolidaymakers considering a holiday in Australia may wish to stay in an ultramodern hotel soon to open in Melbourne.

The Crown Metropol, set to open at the start of 2010, will be the largest hotel in Australia and has been estimated to cost some AU$300 million (£150 million).

Gordon Ramsay will also be making his Australian debut in the hotel, opening his exclusive Maze Restaurant with 300 seats.

The room service menu has also been created by the celebrity chef and will be prepared by his "esteemed team".

A sky-high day spa will be located on level 27 and on the top floor, the 28 Sky Bar is set to become a "favourite city oasis", VisitMelbourne stated.

The hotel will be located opposite the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and has a unique "futuristic", wave-like design.

Holidaymakers flying to Australia for a break a little earlier than 2010 may wish to attend the Melbourne International Arts Festival from October 9th to 25th, showcasing opera, theatre, dance and visual arts. Meet the editors...
