Daily flights from Sydney to Hamilton Island launched

Hamilton Island - location of the island caretaker "Best Job in the World" competition - will now be more accessible to visitors taking a holiday in Australia as Virgin Blue launches new daily flights between Sydney and the island destination.

"This is also perfect timing for everything we have happening on the island this year with Race Week in August and the opening of both our new Yacht Club and Golf Course around the same time," explained Glenn Bourke, chief executive officer of the island.

Hamilton Island can be reached by a direct flight from Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns or Brisbane and is located off the coast of Queensland on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef.

One of the 74 Whitsunday Islands, Hamilton Island is a popular destination for a holiday in Australia as well as for weddings and honeymoons.
