Business travel industry proving buoyantBusiness travel is remaining strong with many people taking as many trips as they normally do despite the economic situation, a survey has revealed.

According to a business travel survey carried out by Quest Serviced Apartments, business flights in Australia have proved the most buoyant with 73 per cent of people in the country claiming the downturn has had no effect on how many flights they take.

Overall, 70 per cent of people who travel for business on a regular basis said they have taken all of the business flights they expected to take since the crisis began.

"In most instances, travel is essential to maintaining and growing a business," explained Paul Constantinou, chairman of Quest.

Mr Constantinou added that one way in which business travellers catching flights in Australia were cutting back on their expenses was to stay in a serviced apartment as an alternative to a hotel.

Travellers looking for a flight to Melbourne may wish to take advantage of a new service offered by Singapore Airlines.

An A380 aircraft - the largest aircraft in the world that carries passengers - will operate between Singapore and Melbourne from September 29th. Meet the editors...
