Incorporate a working holiday into gap year travels According to Tourism Australia, some 33,717 young Britons will opt to take a gap year before heading to university this year and it has highlighted the benefits of combining travelling with a working holiday.

"It provides young people with the opportunity to supplement their travels with incidental work, meaning they gain life experiences and confidence while having an amazing holiday experience," explained Rodney Harrex, general manager of the tourist board for the UK and Europe.

He went on to say that there is also the opportunity to extend their time in the country if they fall in love with the place while working.

On average, Brits holding an Australian working visa earn approximately £10 per hour, according to figures from the Australian department of immigration and citizenship.

Visitors taking a holiday in Australia this summer may wish to visit Buchanan Park in the Outback this August for the Mount Isa Rodeo.

The three-day event includes bareback bronco riding, an amusement park, a Mardi Gras street parade and barrel racing. Meet the editors...
