People wishing to take in the sights of wild kangaroos on their holiday in Australia may want to make a stop in the Northern Territory.

This is according to the Australian Tourist Board, which has suggested a stay at Alice Station bed and breakfast for an authentic Aussie experience.

Located in the centre of Alice Springs, the B&B is a newly-opened accommodation offering for visitors to the region.

"Surrounded by stunning rocky outcrops, the gardens are a haven for wildlife, including wild kangaroos and native birds, after which the rooms are named," the tourist board said.

Proffered as a place from which to discover the Red Centre, it has been constructed out of Ghan railway sleepers to give it an authentic outback feel.

Travellers who have booked flights to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Cairns, Adelaide or Darwin can catch a connecting service to Alice Springs.
