Travellers taking a holiday in Australia may wish to visit one of the oldest reefs known to man.

Visit the oldest reef in the world on an Australian holiday adventureFlinders Range reef in Australia, discovered in 2008, is thought to date back some 650 million years, 80 million years older than its closest rival.

The fossils on the reef are evidence of the earliest forms of primitive animal life.

Holidaymakers who have booked flights to Adelaide in Australia should be able to reach the destination by a three-hour drive.

According to the tourist board: "Flinders Ranges is also home to remarkable flora and fauna, clear waterholes, thermal springs and abundant bird life located against an awe-inspiring backdrop of red desert sands, spectacular gorges [and] pioneering history."

In addition to the reef, the region is also home to Aboriginal rock carvings dating back 16,000 years.

Those who enjoy bushwalking, photography, camping and bird watching may enjoy a holiday in Australia's Flinders Range National Park.

According to Australia Tourism Net, wallabies, grey kangaroos and wedge-tailed eagles can all be spotted on the vista.Meet the editors...
