Free diver breaks world record in Australia The world record for the longest free dive in an ocean cave has been broken in Australia by a local who held his breath naturally throughout the swim.

In news which may impress those searching for a cheap holiday to Australia, Mike Wells, aged 39, navigated his way through the country's longest sea cave without the assistance of oxygen tanks and broke the previous world record, the Times reports.

Mr Wells swam his way through the dark cavern in two minutes and 40 seconds, marking the first time Fish Rock Cave has been the subject of a free dive record attempt.

He told the Australian Marine Conservation Society: "I take in the surrounds, the fish, the rays the corals, sponges, and try to forget the urge to breathe. This keeps my body relaxed and ultimately I use less oxygen."

Another area of marine beauty people booking cheap flights to Australia may like to check out is the world-famous Great Barrier Reef, which stretches for 1,800 miles.Meet the editors...
