Britain suffering from a holiday hangover

Brits are sitting slumped at their desks as they attempt to recover from what has been dubbed a mass 'holiday hangover'.

Now that the August bank holiday has come to an end and cheap holidays in Australia and other exotic locations seem like a distant memory, many Britons are experiencing an emotional slump, according to a survey from Investors in People.

The poll found that one in three of 2,000 respondents said that they dread going back to their desks after taking a week off work and a further two out of five admitted that they need at least one day to re-adjust.

In the opinion of Simon Jones, chief executive of Investors in People, employers "can ill-afford a post-holiday productivity gap and should do everything they can to ensure people slot back in and quickly banish any holiday hangover".

Meanwhile, a survey published this week by TripAdvisor found that Brits are willing to give local food a try when they travel abroad, with 77 per cent of those booking cheap holidays in Australia expressing an intention to sample kangaroo meat.Meet the editors...
