People planning holidays to Australia may want to take in some of the locations used to shoot the forthcoming film Where the Wild Things Are.

Walk Where the Wild Things Are on holidays to Australia

Areas in Australia's southern state, Victoria, were used in the filming of Where the Wild Things Are, an adaptation of the children's book by Maurice Sendak.

Travellers to the area may want to take a trip to see some of the landscapes featured in the movie, including the Mornington Peninsula's picturesque coastline and the Flinders Ranges, where visitors could catch a glimpse of some of Australia's unusual wildlife.

Animals such as kangaroos, echidnas and koalas can all be found in Victoria's countryside.

Many of the locations are within easy reach of one of the region's biggest cities, Melbourne, which also makes an appearance in the flick.

Where the Wild Things Are tells the story of a young boy who escapes to a fantasy island where he becomes king of a group of giant creatures.

The movie is directed by Spike Jonze, who has previously worked on films such as Being John Malkovich and Adaptation.
