Qantas completes upgrade at Perth airportAnyone planning holidays to Australia may be thinking of travelling around the country.

Given its size, the easiest way to get from the east coast to the west is by air and Qantas has upgraded its facilities in Perth to make the experience more pleasant for its passengers.

A new security screening facility has been unveiled, which is designed to reduce congestion and waiting times for people flying with the airline.

Part of an AU$75 million (£42 million) terminal upgrade programme, Qantas also intends to improve its check-in services for frequent fliers.

Other changes already in place include three new baggage carousels and the installation of a larger aerobridge to accommodate the wide-bodied A330 aircraft that are used for the carrier's east to west routes.

Ian Gay, the airline's regional general manager for Western Australia, commented: "Along with our major terminal upgrade, Qantas customers in Perth will enjoy the very best airport experience in Australia when Airport of the Future is rolled out next year."

Qantas is one of the world's leading long-distance air transport companies and is a member of the oneworld Alliance.
