Valentines treat from Gilbert & George in SydneyAnyone who has booked flights to Sydney in time to whisk their loved one away for an exciting break could be wondering what romantically-themed events will be happening in the city this weekend.

One unusual offering comes from contemporary British artists Gilbert & George.

The duo will be attending an event at the Art Gallery of New South Wales to mark the end of the venue's 40 years: Kaldor Public Arts Projects exhibition.

People with an interest in modern art may want to head over to the gallery during the day to see the artists.

For a special romantic treat, between 13:30 and 14:30 (local time) they will be signing Valentine's cards at the Entrance Court.

In addition to appearance of the two creative Brits, there will also be a film programme at the Domain Theatre, which runs from 10:30 until 13:00.

According to the Tate Modern, the works produced by Gilbert & George "capture a broad human experience, encompassing an astonishing range of emotions and themes".
