Escape to a wilderness lodge on holidays to AustraliaPeople who have booked flights to Sydney may be interested to learn that a wilderness resort has opened just three hours away from the bustling city.

Wolgan Valley is described as a "bespoke, modern take on the traditional Aussie cattle station" and promises travellers an easy escape from the city.

Journalist John Arlidge visited the lodge, which is situated in the Blue Mountains, and wrote about his experiences in the Daily Telegraph.

He explained that the resort is built around the ethos of sustainable luxury, with every comfort available to guests and many of the building materials, food and drink sourced locally.

Anyone who wants an eco holiday could do worse than to stay at Wolgan Valley, Mr Arlidge pointed out, because water for the showers and baths is purified rain water that is heated by solar power.

He also noted that travellers can explore the 4,000-acre ranch on foot, by four-wheel drive or on horseback.

Guests who want to get close to nature can also opt for a wildlife safari to get to the outermost reaches of the resort or can choose a guided walk through parts of the grounds.
