South Australia 'an emerging foodie destination'

Anyone who is travelling on flights to Australia over the coming months may want to sample the cuisine on offer in South Australia, one travel expert has claimed.

South Australia an emerging foodie destinationThe state of South Australia is among the emerging foodie destinations, according to one expert.

Erik Wolf, president of the International Culinary Tourism Association, commented that the region is one of the new destinations attracting the attention of travellers who enjoy trying new cuisine.

He also noted that the concept of food tourism is becoming more popular and more widely marketed.

Destinations "realise that food and drink are the only tourism products that all visitors enjoy", Mr Wolf pointed out, adding that an increasing number of travel operators are catering for food-lovers the world over.

Research released earlier this month by cottages4u found that British holidaymakers within the UK cited food markets and restaurants as the top two factors when considering a break.

According to Mr Wolf, the trend of using food to help pick a holiday destination is set to grow both at home and abroad.
