Brisbane prepares to host Italian WeekFoodies keen for a taste of authentic Italian cuisine while in Australia could find a forthcoming festival to be of particular interest.

Between May 26th and June 2nd, Brisbane will adopt a distinctly European flavour as part of Italian Week.

The seven-day event will give those who have arrived in the city on a flight to Australia the chance to sample all things Italian - with the country's world-famous cuisine out in full force as food and drink will be offered at restaurants throughout the Queensland city.

An Italian Market Day gives people the chance to observe pasta cooking demonstrations, sample olive oil and taste parmesan cheese, while there will also be the oppourtunity to take in Tuscan cooking classes.

Meanwhile, the Gallery of Modern Art will present the Australian premiere of the Italian masterpiece Cabiria, featuring an introduction by acclaimed director Martin Scorsese, while singer Patrizio Buanne is to perform at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Those taking cheap flights to Australia may also want to head to Byron Bay in New South Wales, as the destination was placed third the recent TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice 2010 awards.
