Sydney prepares for State of OriginOne of the biggest events in the Australian sporting calendar is set to take place later this week.

The first match in the State of Origin series will kick off at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on May 26th.

Anyone who has booked flights to Sydney will no doubt get caught up in the excitement as the New South Wales rugby league side take on their Queensland rivals.

The State of Origin contest is traditionally a best-of-three competition, with Queensland having won the title for the past four years.

But this year represents a milestone in State of Origin history as the interstate battle for supremacy on the rugby pitch marks its 30th anniversary.

While the two sides have enjoyed relatively even success over the years, it is Queensland that has the edge, having won 18 State of Origin contests.

Although tickets for the matches have long since sold out, there will be plenty of bars and restaurants in both Sydney and Brisbane showing the game to thousands of fans.
