Every year, humpback whales follow their migratory route north past the coast of Sydney.

To cater for the demand from visitors who want to see one of these magnificent ocean-going mammals, one Sydney hotel is offering a package that will allow tourists to combine luxury with whale watching.

The InterContinental Sydney is now offering a two-night package, which includes breakfast at the Cafe Opera and a whale watching cruise.

Guests will have an expert on board to help them spot the whales and answer any questions.

In addition to the excursion, people staying at the hotel could also take advantage of its facilities, which include a gym and a heated swimming pool on the 31st floor that boasts harbour views.

According to research carried out by whale watching trip operator True Blue Cruises, as many as 2,000 humpback whales could pass Sydney during their migration.
