New signage for Northern Territory

New road signs have been erected in the Northern Territory to help travellers find their way around.

Anyone who arrives on flights to Australia and intends to hire a car and drive around the country will find that they have some extra help when it comes to navigating in the Northern Territory.

Tourism NT has introduced a new signage system to the region to help travellers find their way around all of the red centre's most spectacular sights.

In addition to offering directions, some of the signs also give an insight into the people and places of the state.

Maree Tetlow, chief executive of Tourism NT, revealed: "Interpretive signs can be found along the route explaining cultural, heritage and nature attractions providing a deeper experience for visitors to this majestic corner of the Territory."

The new signs have been erected along the route which runs from Alice Springs to Uluru.

Holidaymakers could stop off for a day of hiking at Kings Canyon or Kata Tjuta National Park.

Or if they prefer, they can head straight to Uluru and watch the sunrise and even climb the iconic landmark.
