Set holiday budget, travellers urgedThose planning on heading off on holiday this summer may find that putting a budget in place as well as searching out the cheapest options possible for a trip could be the best way of saving money.

According to Bob Atkinson, a travel expert at travelsupermarket.com, even those without much to spend will be able to find somewhere affordable to jet off to for a summer break. There are many cheap flights to Bangkok or Sydney which can be found, so holidaymakers may even find a far-flung break doesn't cost the earth.

Mr Atkinson advised travellers to set a final budget for all their holiday costs and also gave some tips for keeping prices low, which included travelling mid-week when possible and looking at both self catering and all-inclusive deals.

A recent survey from YouGov, commissioned by Turn2us - part of the poverty charity Elizabeth Finn Care - found that 30 per cent of families are concerned about the cost of a summer break and say they cannot afford such a holiday.
