Brits getting more holiday savvySearching out cheap flights to Australia could be a top priority for those looking at getting away this year, as more holiday customers are becoming price conscious in the wake of the economic downturn.

According to TripAdvisor, more Brits are becoming financially savvy when looking at going abroad - and with flights down under among the most costly for UK travellers, cheap flights to Australia could be popular.

Emma O'Boyle, a spokeswoman from TripAdvisor, noted that holiday customers are now realising "that if they shop around, there are real savings to be found".

When searching out cheap flights to Australia, Ms O'Boyle's advice could be useful.

"It's important to evaluate more than just the base ticket price to determine which flight is the best overall value," she commented. Such considerations could include the distance to the departure airport and the cost of getting there.

According to a recent survey by Travelzoo, Brits are more likely to haggle for a good price on a holiday deal than any other European travellers.
