Cheapp flight to Australia customers may want to make sure their holiday cover insures against baggage loss and medical costs.

Those heading off on cheap flights to Australia should make sure their holiday insurance policy offers at least £2 million in medical cover, it has been advised.

Sean Tipton, from ABTA - The Travel Association, said that for the "worse case scenario", at least £2 million was vital. As well as this, baggage cover worth around £1,500 is important though those heading off with high value luggage may want to up this amount.

Many of those taking cheap flights to Australia may be planning to take advantage of the wide range of outdoor activities on offer in the nation, such as diving on the Great Barrier Reef.

If so, Mr Tipton urged people to tell their holiday insurance provider in order to make sure they are covered in the event of an accident.

"If you don't tell them and then you have an accident whilst skiing or diving, you won't be covered by your insurance - it's as simple as that," he warned.
