Enjoy surf and turf on an Australian holidayTravellers heading off on an Australian holiday to Cairns will have no shortage of places to sample some local cuisine during their stay.

Writing for Travel Blackboard, John Alwyn-Jones explained the world-class produce available n the country - such as meat, fish, vegetables and shellfish - make top-quality food easy to come by.

"I particularly like restaurants that offer top quality Australian cuisine, with a hint of the multicultural nature of this great country coming through with spices [and[]herbs," he remarked, adding Dundee's on the Waterfront in Cairns is one place that offers a combination of local and international foods.

He highlighted the restaurant's surf and turf - which includes sirloin steak, roasted sweet potatoes and sauteed tiger prawns - as one of his favourite dishes, along with the Aussie Connection dish, consisting of such eclectic ingredients as barbecued crocodile and chilli salad.

Food lovers can even go one step further and take a coach tour around Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef region, where they can stop off and try local produce such as ice cream, mangoes, and pineapples.
