Research key to holidays, travellers told

Carrying out the right amount of research is key to having an enjoyable holiday

Research key to holidays, travellers toldBefore looking for cheap flights and accommodation, those trying to plan their summer holiday break should do as much research as possible, it has been advised.

According to HolidayExtras.com, this is especially important when it comes to where they stay - managing director at the firm Mike Whiting noted that each year, many people who book online are left disappointed by their holiday accommodation when it turns out not to live up to their expectations.

While visiting the hotel's own website is a good idea, utilising online reviews written by other tourists is perhaps more useful. Mr Whiting also said that travel forums are a good way of connecting with people who may have stayed in the hotel before.

Getting cheap flights to your destination is one great way of cutting back on the cost of a break but going for the lowest priced accommodation could leave some travellers in the lurch in a bad hotel.

"It is understandable that British travellers are becoming more demanding, with people taking fewer holidays it is important that the holidays they do take, are the best they can be."
