The carrier recently reported growth in passenger numbers in the last 12 months to October 2010 and is now to double its fleet to offer more flights to Australia, Singapore and south-east Asia. A total of 5.6 million passengers took flights with Tiger Airways – 39 per cent more than in 2009.

By March 2013, the airline is expecting to increase from its current 21 planes to 43 aircraft as well as developing its online presence.

"We are now focused on creating 'tigerairways.com' as the next industry leading innovation," explained Tiger Airways Holdings chief financial officer Chin Sak Hin.

"The creation of a new subsidiary will enable the company to ensure that there is dedicated senior management focus on increasing an important source of profitability."

Created in 2003, Tiger Airways currently offers flights to 14 airports in Australia.
