United Airlines commits to Australia

Jeff Smisek, the boss of United Airlines, has confirmed the carrier's commitment to the Australian market.

United Airlines commits to AustraliaJeff Smisek, the boss of United Airlines, has confirmed the carrier's commitment to the Australian market.

Speaking to Australia's National Aviation Press Club, Mr Smisek explained that there is a growing demand for flights to Australia and the airline is set to continue its services to the region, although it will take a long time to develop am established market.

He also praised the decision to invite Oprah Winfrey to the country to help promote it to overseas travellers, reports etravelblackboard.com

"Bringing Oprah to Australia was a clever strategy," he said.

"Together with agents, wholesalers and the entire tourism community, we have and will continue to develop fantastic working relationships and lasting partnerships to secure further business within the Australian market," said Mr Smisek. 

United Continental Holding, the holding company of United Airlines and Continental Airlines, operates around 5,800 flights per day to more than 370 airports.
