Tourism bodies in Queensland are keen to stress to those taking flights to Australia that the region is operating as normal despite the recent flooding in the country.

Tourism bodies in Queensland are keen to stress to those taking flights to Australia that the region is operating as normal despite the recent flooding in the country.

A statement from Tourism Queensland, reported by the Daily Telegraph, explained that the heavy rain which has lead to some people being forced from their homes should not cause problems for those travelling to the key tourist regions in the area. Especially, as the main tourist destinations in Queensland remain flood-free.

"There are domestic and international visitors experiencing challenges, mainly those embarking on self-drive holidays, but most of Queensland's internationally-focused products are operating as normal," said the statement.

Queensland has a number of key tourist attractions such as the city of Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Whitsundays, Fraser Coast and North Queensland plus the Great Barrier Reef.
