Sydney welcomes the funniest month of the yearBritish travellers in need of a good laugh are urged to book flights to Sydney, as the Australian city is launching its sixth annual Comedy Festival next week (April 11th).

Tickets are already available for the Cracker showcase, which gets the month-long event underway, with several regional and international acts performing across four different venues.

Festival highlights include Irish comic Ardal O'Hanlon (of Father Ted fame), Canadian raconteur Greg Proops (regular on Whose Line Is It Anyway) and British comedian Stephen K Amos, who British tourists may recognise from Live At The Apollo.

This year's event will also feature an extended cabaret line-up, as well as many events specifically designed for kids between next Monday and May 8th.

Participating venues include the Enmore Theatre, the Factory Theatre and the Virgin Mobile Metro Theatre.

Tickets for the Cracker opening gala start at $55 (£35) and most of the individual events cost less than $30 per ticket.
