Listen to A Dialogue with Thomas Friedman in SydneyLiterary enthusiasts jetting off on cheap flights to Sydney in the coming days could be keen to attend A Dialogue with Thomas Friedman.

The three-time Pulitzer Prize recipient is set to wax lyrical on a diverse range of global issues in the talk, which will take place at Sydney Opera House on August 2nd.

Items of discussion will include the rise of China, the Arab Spring uprisings and his upcoming book, entitled That Used to Be Us: How America Fell Behind in the World We Invented and How We Can Come Back.

Professor Geoffrey Garrett, chief executive of the United States Studies Centre, said: "There is no more astute or prescient analyst of global affairs than Thomas Friedman."

Doors at Sydney Opera House are due to open at 19:00 local time on the night and tickets are priced at AU$35 (£23).

Friedman's novel From Beirut to Jerusalem, chronicling the decade he spent reporting from the Middle East, remained on the New York Times bestseller list for almost 12 months.
