Travel to Australia good alternative to university yearYoung people who have finished school but do not want to go straight to university have been advised to think about getting cheap flights to Australia instead.

Rodney Harrex, UK and Northern Europe general manager at Tourism Australia, said that the company is suggesting the Work Holiday Visa as an alternative for those who miss out on a place at their chosen institution or who want to travel instead.

"Not only are there a good number of job opportunities available but the strong Aussie dollar also means working holidaymakers can earn good money whilst travelling in Australia," said Mr Harrex.

He stated that while the east coast of the country is often the most popular for travellers, the work is often seasonal, so researching other locations is advised.

Glynn Jacobs, project manager at visitoutbacknsw.com, recently advised those taking cheap flights to Australia to try heading off the beaten track when looking for interesting locations.
