Take the train to see real Australian outback Travellers heading away on flights to Perth have been advised that if they are planning to travel around the country, the train is the best way to do so.

Tony Braxton-Smith, chief executive of Great Southern Rail, said that although many visitors to the country will spend time in different locations, they will often choose to fly there.

He suggested that this could mean that they miss out on the chance to see some of the most stunning landscapes the country has to offer.

"With Australia's vast distances, travel on our trains allows guests to immerse themselves in the countryside and really appreciate the subtle diversity of the country," Mr Braxton-Smith said.

He added that it is also a great way to meet others travelling to the same destination as you are.

Boarding flights to Perth and other Australian locations was recently advised by Rodney Harrex, UK and Northern Europe general manager at Tourism Australia, as being a great alternative to heading straight to university.
