Sydney basks in 34 degree heatwavePeople on flights to Sydney may need to remember their summer clothes and suncream as the city has seen temperatures hit 34 degrees C.

The warm weather seems to be here to stay again in the city as much of New South Wales enjoyed temperatures in the low 30s over the weekend.

Overnight, the temperatures had a low of 18 degrees, which is four degrees above the average.

Later into the day on Monday (October 24th 2011), the mercury rose to 34.3 degrees by 15:00 local time, a figure which is 12 degrees above average and the hottest temperature seen since February 6th.

However, over the coming days the temperature is likely to drop closer to monthly average levels again as the warm front travels inland.

People on flights to Sydney recently may have witnessed the visit of Her Royal Highness, Princess Birgitta of Sweden and Hohenzollern, as she is currently in the Australian city to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce.
