Working holidays give authentic feel of AustraliaPeople booking cheap flights to Australia could try getting an employment visa before they leave, as spending some time working there has been suggested by one expert.

Brooke Schoenman, travel writer for WhyGo Australia, explained that to get a really authentic feel for the country, it is good to try working there.

She said this is especially true for visitors aged under 31, as it will give them one of the most down-to-earth cultural experiences they can have, with different sized locations providing varying experiences.

For those who want to experience the outback, Broken Hill in New South Wales is recommended.

"Small outback towns give visitors a sense of size and a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere," Ms Schoenman added.

People taking cheap flights to Australia or other countries for gap year trips were recently advised by John Lawler, operations manager at Madventurer.com, to make sure they have adequate insurance.
