Qantas announces Wi-Fi trial

Qantas has announced it will be trialling in-flight connectivity systems on some of its flights.

People taking flights to Sydney with Qantas in the future could be able to access the internet while they travel.

The airline has announced it is planning to bring in in-flight connectivity services on some of its flights to and from Sydney and Melbourne airports on a trial basis.

"Our customers will be able to access the internet via their Wi-Fi enabled personal electronic devices, such as iPhones, iPads and BlackBerrys, on Qantas for the first time," explained Qantas chief executive officer Alan Joyce.

Customers travelling in first and business class cabins can pay to access the service with their credit cards and will be able to surf the internet and send emails while at 35,000 feet.

Qantas is introducing a range of hi-tech systems which could benefit many people on flights to Sydney and other locations in the future, as it has also brought in a new electronic check-in system.
